Murder Mystery 2 Guide: Tips, Tricks & How to Get Robux (2026)

How to actually win as Murderer, Sheriff and Innocent in Murder Mystery 2, plus what makes a knife valuable and how the trading economy really works.

ShareXReddit

Murder Mystery 2 has been running for over a decade and still pulls around 164,000 concurrent players. It is a game almost everyone on Roblox has played once and far fewer have played well. The rules take thirty seconds to learn; reading a round properly takes considerably longer.

What Is Murder Mystery 2? (permalink)

Murder Mystery 2 is a social deduction game. Each round, one player becomes the Murderer, one becomes the Sheriff, and everyone else is an Innocent. The Murderer kills quietly, the Sheriff has the only gun and has to work out who the Murderer is, and the Innocents try to survive — and to pick up the gun if the Sheriff dies.

That last rule is what makes Roblox Murder Mystery 2 more than a game of tag. When the Sheriff dies, their gun drops, and any Innocent can grab it. Suddenly a round where everyone was hiding becomes a race, and the Murderer's safest strategy flips completely.

The other half of the game is cosmetic: knives and guns drop, and players trade them. A serious MM2 player is as invested in their inventory as in their win rate, and some of the older knives carry genuine status.

How to Get Started (permalink)

  1. Play three rounds doing nothing clever. Learn the maps before you try to read people. Knowing where the exits are matters more than any tactic.
  2. Learn your role instantly. Your role appears at the start of the round. If you hesitate, experienced players will read it on your face — meaning your movement — immediately.
  3. As Innocent, keep moving and stay near others. Being alone is how you die. Being in a crowd means the Murderer risks witnesses.
  4. As Sheriff, do not announce yourself. New Sheriffs type "I'm sheriff" in chat. That tells the Murderer exactly who to kill first.
  5. As Murderer, kill stragglers, not crowds. One body nobody saw beats two bodies and three witnesses.

The biggest beginner mistake is running away from everyone as Innocent. Isolation is the Murderer's ideal condition, and hiding in a corner alone just means you die last instead of not at all.

Tips and Tricks to Get Better (permalink)

  • Watch movement, not chat. Murderers move with purpose and adjust course toward lone players. Innocents wander. This tells you more than anything typed.
  • As Sheriff, shadow a crowd instead of hunting. Let the Murderer come to the crowd. You get the shot when they commit, rather than guessing in a corridor.
  • As Murderer, follow someone without killing them. Counterintuitive, but it works: sticking with a group briefly makes you read as Innocent, and you pick your moment when the group splits.
  • Never shoot on a hunch as Sheriff. Shooting an Innocent ends your round and hands the gun to the floor. Wait for a body or a confirmed sighting.
  • Learn the drop points. When a Sheriff dies, the gun lands where they did. Knowing the map means being the one who reaches it.
  • Don't camp a spawn as Murderer. It works twice, then everyone recognises it and the round is over.
  • Value knives by rarity and demand, not by looks. Godly knives hold value; limited event items fluctuate a lot depending on whether an event is running.
  • Refuse "trust trades" every single time. Handing over an item first on a promise is the oldest scam in MM2 and it has never once been honoured.

Once you stop playing your own role and start reading everybody else's, MM2 becomes a very different game.

Murder Mystery 2 Codes (Updated September 2026) (permalink)

Murder Mystery 2 does issue codes, usually around events and milestones, and they typically grant a knife or a small amount of currency rather than anything that affects gameplay.

Rather than trusting a list that may be months out of date, check:

  • The code entry box on the in-game menu, which rejects expired codes immediately
  • The developer Nikilis' official X account, where codes are traditionally announced
  • The MM2 Discord server linked from the Roblox experience page

Anything promising free Godly knives via a code is not a code — it is a scam, and the Roblox password box at the end of it is the whole point.

How to Get More Robux for Murder Mystery 2 (permalink)

Radios, extra gameplay perks and inventory space in MM2 are gamepasses, and knife crates cost in-game currency you can also buy with Robux.

One of the easiest ways to earn free Robux is through Survey.GG. You complete short surveys and simple tasks, and Robux gets added straight to your account — no credit card needed. It's a legit way to stack up Robux without spending real money.

Final Thoughts (permalink)

Murder Mystery 2 has survived ten years because the deduction is genuinely good. Stop hiding, start watching how people move, and never take the first shot as Sheriff on a feeling. Play it that way for a week and you will spot the Murderer before they take a step toward you.
